Community Resources

Sonoma County is not only a beautiful place to live with lots to see and do; it is also a real community with caring residents who are actively involved locally and engaged with one another. Having served consecutive terms as President and Vice President of a local non-profit, I know firsthand about the positive impact serving the needs of others can make, and am proud to be part of such a friendly, united, proactive environment.

Here is just a sampling of the non-profits dedicated to serving the needs of our local communities:

Committee on the Shelterless (COTS)
Provides transitional and emergency housing and support services and counseling, as well as respite, support and guidance that allows people to transform their lives and get back under a roof of their own.

Education Foundation of Cotati & Rohnert Park
Supports educational projects of merit within the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District.

Friends in Sonoma Helping (FISH)
Helps residents in need of food, clothing, help with rent payments, utility assistance, or transportation to medical, dental or social service appointments.

Impact 100 Sonoma
A grant-making organization that aims to raise awareness of the unmet needs of non-profits in the Sonoma Valley; inspire members to become more involved with local charities; and make a substantial, lasting impact on the long-term sustainability of the non-profit community.

Petaluma Bounty
A local non-profit that helps people to grow their own healthy food, redistributing surplus food and providing affordable fresh food to low-income families and seniors.

Petaluma Education Foundation
The goal is to raise money in the community to benefit education.

Redwood Empire Food Bank
Makes adequate nutrition assistance available and accessible to anyone in need.

Stand by Me
Invests in the future of our community by fostering enduring relationships between caring adult mentors and school children requiring academic and social support.

Sonoma County Secret Santa
Works to ensure that kids, teens, adults and seniors who would not otherwise have a holiday gift are able to smile and have hope during the holiday season.

The Fabulous Women
Supports local meaningful causes by bringing hope to families going through hardship.

The Human Race
A nationwide community fundraising event for nonprofit organizations, and the largest collaborative fundraising event in Sonoma County; also the largest Human Race in the nation!
